Secured by Design is a crime prevention initiative operated by the Police Services of the United Kingdom and Garage Door Systems Ballymena have been members of this scheme for a number of years now. Secured by Design aims to utilise design principles and products that reduce the risk of crime. Garage Door Systems, in consultation with Secured by Design advisors, build and fit garage doors throughout Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and the UK.

Garage Door Systems Ballymena are Secured by Design members. To obtain Secured by Design status businesses are required to undertake rigorous third-party testing and obtain independent certification. From our base in Ballymena, Northern Ireland, Garage Door Systems work with Secured by Design in an ongoing program of consultancy, training and presentations.
Secured by Design guidelines
Operating under the guidance of the official police security initiative Garage Door Systems Northern Ireland meet Secured by Design guidelines and so reduce the opportunity for Crime.
Secured by Design promotes crime prevention and designing out crime to industry, trade and consumers. They do this in various ways, including:
- Offering accredited Continuous Professional development training for architects through the Royal Institute of British Architects.
- Attending exhibitions and conferences and delivering presentations where-ever possible.
- Making guidance documents and information available to the industry via the SBD website.
- Working closely with standard-setting and test bodies to ensure that testing takes the latest crime trends into account.
- Producing press releases and articles for the trade press.
- Informing and educating colleagues in the police service.
- Providing support for crime prevention initiatives and research.
